p.s. i orderd A Blessing of the Hounds yesterday! Ooh, I'm jealous! Enjoy it! They used to have Tears read by Michael on michaelmadsen.com but it's been replaced by the book signing dates and I looked around but couldn't find it anywhere else.

They did have a clip of him reading it on his web site but I don't think it's up anymore. That's the only place I've seen it at. Oops, sorry about the repeat...I posted this before I read Tsn's reply.

September's Poem of the Month is "Good-Bye" from Burning In Paradise
"Good-Bye"
The first time I had sex with a woman I was 13 years old. Her name was Jackie. She said she was 28. It wasn't only me she f*cked but all my friends too. Of course I brought them over there but only because they didnt believe me. And we all needed to get laid you know. Jeff, Danny, Tim, David all got Coca-Colas waiting for Jackie in the white hallway.
She was married and told us, so we waited one day and watched her husband come home, getting out of his car and walking up the sidewalk.
All he saw was five boys sitting on the roof of the building watching him waddle up.
The sad Christmas tree, the dirty dishes in the sink, Jackie's laundry and broken tape deck. The Flintstones on TV while we sucked her t*ts and she took us one after another.
We heard she was moving and watched from the roof when they loaded the U-Haul, finally driving away she looked back up and waved good-bye.

I just noticed something about his writing style. It's really the small details that he puts in that create a picture in your mind making it easy to throw yourself right into the time he's talking about. It really is all about the little nuances your mind picks up on and not the major details that makes poetry much more real. Great choice!!!

Yes, I agree! It's like you're right there in the apartment w/ them. This is one of the most raw & revealing poems that I've read of his so far. Not many famous people would have the guts to write a poem like that to share w/ everyone.
I think that that's THE biggest reason (besides his acting) that I admire him so much. He's always been up-front & honest about his life...how he cheated on his wives & did drugs & got arreste & spent time in jail & what have you...he's never denied any of that & actually revealed it through his interviews & poetry. With him what you see is what you get. ALOT of "stars" these days & in the past have gone out of their way to hide that kind of stuff & deny it & such & Michael has never been like that.

That first one was so intense..I love his poetry. I'm thinking about doing a paper on one of his poems. But I'm not sure how to present the topic you know. Any ideas?

You could do something on exploring different styles of poetry and then profile Michael and some of his poems. You know, I actually had some one write a paper on me - long story, but a friend of mine moved to NY and a few years back I compiled a book of all the things I'd written and gave it to him for Christmas because he liked it. We lost touch when he moved though. A few months ago I got an email from him saying he'd found me online and was doing a term paper on me and my writing. Weird, flattering and I was glad he got an 'A' on it when it was all said and done. I don't know what he wrote, but he must have made me pretty exciting.

Thanks so much! That's so cool that your friend wrote a paper on you. I'd be so flattered if someone told me they wrote a paper on me. Thanks for your help ;D

That's so true. It sooo annoys me when celebs like try to make themselves look flawless and perfect even thought they're not. They've made mistakes just like everybody else. Why cover it up? The experience is part of who you are. It made you stronger or a better person so why not shout it from the roof tops that you've made a few mistakes..whats the big deal?

Exactly! I admire someone more for being honest than thinking someone is perfect. You know what I mean?

i really dont know why but this is my first time ever looking at this. i just read all of michaels poems posted on here and he is just an awesome writer. its strange having insight to his life like that. and why he would ever want to tell people some of those things is beyond me but its defentily good reading. i dont have any of his books, i cant find them anywheres. one day i will have my bf get the for me. but until then the ones posted here are the only ones i get to read. so please keep posting them.

I have inventory at work tomorrow so I'm looking at a very long day. So I probably won't be back on here until Wednesday at the earliest. So just bear w/ me & I'll get one posted soon.
