Thought I would post some old news on Michael,in the hope it could be new to some people. It's from an interview.
For Michael being a badass comes naturally. His role in Species,Thelma and Louise,Reservoir Dogs, both Kill Bill and Sin City all have touches of the patent Madsen danger. Whether it's a sadistic expression when he's cutting off a man's ear or burying Uma Thurman alive,he's a character actor who plays a convincing sociopath.
The actor says,"I've been thinking that I should have been a carpenter or the owner of a body shop somewhere, because I really don't fit in. I really don't".
More tomorrow.

I wonder why he feels he doesn't fit in?

I think it's because he doesn't go a long with the Hollywood scene. An answer he gave for feeling like he doesn't fit in was: He had a good reason for feeling like a showbiz outsider. He has seen more than most the Hollywood dichotomy. His sister Virgina is at the pinnacle of her career. Michael's former friend Tom Sizemore became entangled in legal battles and sex-scandals and tragically, his best friend Chris Penn died accidentally from prescription-drugs complications. Michael's wife and children are a priority. He's not giving up on being the industry's intense,Malbro-voiced man's man but after some hard times of personal loss and questionable roles, what he does next is going to be on his own terms.
More to morrow.

Michael on "Kill Bill". "Kill Bill" was a tremendous achievement in filmmaking. That f**king movie was so good that it scared the nuts out of people. People didn't know how to respond to it. Why didn't Uma Thurman get a nomination,if not the Academy Award for her performances in those two films? According to Michael,Hollywood is incredibly political-much more than he realized. If I'd known how political it really was,I don't think I would have ever started in the industry. It will kill you if you allow it. It really will. More tomorrow.

Michael says he thinks people are surprised that he's a family man. I spend a lot of time with my sons at home. I'm really more into being a father than I am in my acting career. A lot of people think I'm riding around on a Harley Davidson with a bottle of Jack Daniels in my hand and yes,I do that now and then but it's not like I'm out there riding with the Hell's Angels. I have as a matter of fact ridden with the Hell's Angels. I guess it all comes down to what film people remember me from. If people know me from Free Willy, they think I'm a great guy but if someone reconizes me from Resevoir Dogs, they don't even want to get in an elevator with me. It's funny, when you're shaking hands and signing autographs at a premiere, you can actually feel people physically trembling when you are near them. It always makes me feel very strange that I could have that effect on someone I have never met.
More tomorrow. I do hope one is finding this interesting even though it is probably old news

Michael was asked, how do you explain the lack of mainstream interest in you?
I think it's a lack of imagination from people who are casting these films. When I did Donnie Brasco,I told the (director) Mike Newell I wasn't going to read for the part. I said,"Just give me the role or don't. I'm terrible at auditions". A couple of days later they called me back and said,"Would you meet with Mike Newell over at the Four Seasons?" The reason I tell this story is because recently I was asked to read for Frank James-Jessie Jame's brother-in the upcoming Brad Pitt picture (The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford). I know Brad because we did Thelma and Louise together. You would think Brad would speak up for me. He obviously didn't do that. All because I said I didn't want to read for this movie. They gave the part to Sam Shepard, who's twice the age of the real Frank James. So try to make sense of that one. It's just the way things go for me. I wish I had more to do. (Director Robert Rodriguez) offered me the role of Bob. I looked at the script, called Robert up and said,"What is this"? I only have three scenes here?" He goes,"Michael, look,if you do this and the movie works,we'll make a sequel and if we make the sequel,Bob has a much bigger part because he's one of the only people who doesn't get killed in the first Sin City." That made sense to me,so I did it.
More tomorrow.

In the question put to Michael refusing to watch his sister in a nude seen. Michael replied, what I said was that I'm not refusing to watch my sister in a nude scene with my arms folded over my chest and my eyes closed. What I'm saying is that I'm not going to walk into Blockbusters to rent a picture of my sister naked. I mean,do you want to see your sister naked? I mean,my sister is a beautiful woman. (Yells) But she's my sister.

Michael would like to escape the imagine of being considered one of the last Hollywood tough guys the stereotypes. I walk into a movie theatre and I see all these giant billboards all over the place of all these big films coming out and I say to myself,"Gee,what am I doing wrong?" Everyone has me pegged as the bad guy. They don't realize I have a calmer side that's never been exploited. I look at somebody like Humphrey Bogart, who made 40 pictures for Warner Bros. playing tough guys but then he did the Maltese Falcon and everything changed for him.

Michael and Quentin understand each other. When Icome into work for him,he knows what I'm going to do,I think I get a psychic energy from him that allows me to go in a direction that he wants. When I did Kill Bill: Volume 2,the first time we shot was the stuff in the grave-yard. I didn't want to start with that scene because I didn't know in which direction I wanted to take Bud. I didn't know if he was going to be empathetic or just plain evil. At the end of the night I asked Quentin what he thought and he said,"It's good,it's good!" I wasn't so sure,

Michael, didnt mind his older boys seeing Reservoir Dogs. He likes to steer them away from that kind of stuff if he can. Michael never understood the attention the scene with the cop got as he thought it was tame. He didn't see it as being really violent. He did that scene on the spot. Holding the ear in his hand he didn't know what to do with it. Tarantino was off-screen telling him to toss it but he wasn't ready to toss it. So he spoke into it. You know the black cowboy boots he had on? Well, there was no big budget for wardrobe,so everyone was told to show up with black shoes. Michael didn't have any black shoes only cowboy boots. So that's why Michael is wearing cowboy boots in the film. A lot of things Michael did in the film were never written down.

Lovely to hear from you again Red Devil. Sorry to hear about your arm.
I'm glad to get a reply to the things I've posted.
It was mentioned to Michael how Tom Sizemore used to be his friend. Michael know longer speaks to him. Adding to Tom's scandal with Hollywood madam Heidi Fleiss,Sizemore had resorted to selling homemade porn videos of himself on the Internet. Did Hollywood ruin Sizemore or did he do it himself?
Michael wouldn't comment on what happened to Tommy, just out of respect for him. I will say this: Sooner or later, everybody has to take responsibility fot their own actions. He was given a tremendous number of breaks. I'm not one to talk because I've been through my trials and tribulations but not on that level.
I'll also say this about Tom-once he got in trouble,he should have stayed the hell off TV. He never should have gone on 20/20 or any other of those things he did. I thought that was ridiculous. It was self-crucifixion. Why he would want to do a document on his downdall is a mystery to me. Besides that, he stopped calling me a long time ago,so...Tommy got a little to big for his britches. I had to tell him that so a couple of times.
