Awesome poetic observation yet once again. Each one paints its own picture. Cool.

Although I've responded to this obvious shock elsewhere on this board, I will respond yet one more time. However, in the future I won't be as kind, nor will I be as forgiving to such obvious stick your head in the sand mentality. When he was 13 it was 1971. Now, even if you weren't alive in 1971, there are plenty of books around to read about all the crap that happened in 1971. People didn't care how old people were, just that they were there. So please, lets not make a big, hairy, deal out of this topic that has sat on this board for so long without anyone's mention. Not worth it! Yes, I am a pregnant dog, but trust me, in time you'll come to love me! ;D

Sinatraless(from A Blessing of the Hounds) I woke up before the sun this morning and walked outside onto the back deck. After awhile, the light came up a little and I noticed a lot of dried leaves slowly blowing across, mostly into the corners of the patio.
It reminded me of the scene of Godfather III, only the music was gone.
Frank died a few days ago and now the license plates on his van have been changed. His house looks different now. There are leaves there, too, in a big pile in the driveway. Never would have been there while he was alive. It was always clean, really clean.
It's kind of sad I think, me, you, the house, the leaves, everything. really Sinatra-less.Being a Sinatra fan myself I just had to post this one.

I just adore this poem. It was a very sad day when Frank died. American music lost one of it's greatest contributors. I can't even imagine what it must have been like to watch the changes take place after living next to the man for so long. 'Sinatraless' is really a haunting piece, very stark....you kind of envision everything in black and white. Beautiful poem and an excellent choice.
Sinatra fans unite! LOL

OMG I love this poem...that's too funny that you chose this one as Feburay's poem of the month because yesterday we got a new puppy and we named him Sinatra (due to my grandmother, who is a big Sinatra fan, getting him for us). I love Frank Sinatra..I remember when I was younger and we were living with my granparents, my grandma would play his music while she'd clean the house. I grew up listening to him even though he came out before my time...amazing...I think he was one of our most talented singers ever...they'll never be another like old blue eyes..LOL

Amen sister!! And I don't even really know how I got into Sinatra in the first place..no one in my family ever listened to him much. I guess it was b/c I watched so many mob movies and there was always at least one Sinatra song in every one I've ever watched..which is quite a few. Then I started reading up on the Rat Pack & watching specials about them & I really got hooked. The voice..the eyes...it's just all very haunting & mesmerizing.

I used a couple of Sinatra songs on the soundtrack that I made for my second book. He's classic, timeless and very memorable to anyone of any age. This is an awesome choice!
