A big 'Boo hiss' from my living room to the people who posted such scathing reviews of both Blessing of the Hounds and Burning in Paradise. I was interested in buying them and I wanted to get an idea what they'd run me. When I started reading the reviews (not all were bad) there were about three that were just unnecessary and flat out rude. Unfortunately they were added by people who obviously don't understand the type of poetry Michael writes nor do they understand the eloquence of some of his poems. In short, they just don't get it. As a fellow author who has no reviews on my book, I've always been prepared for someone to totally dog on it and say how horrible it was to them. But what I don't think benefits anyone is being completely ignorant when you post anything that isn't positive. Done incorrectly, bad reviews just make the poster look stupid. (as was the case here) Heck, if I wasn't such a Madsen fan I'd probably buy the books just to read because of those bad reviews and the fact the people who wrote them obviously didn't understand.

I haven't read any reviews of the books, but I usually don't pay attention to what the critics say, same w/ movie critics. I could care less what they think, I'll judge for myself.

Actually, 'Oops..." I think you're closer than anyone might think. I actually learned from my publisher that there are a great many people who are surfing around online leaving horrible reviews for peoples books just so they lose their ranking number. STUPID? Yes! Do I care? Nope, but I do want to say that if you decide to buy a book off Amazon, please check around before you rely on the rating online.
