PRAISE FOR MICHAEL IN 'TILT'... From MSN.com: By the way, Michael Madsen—as always—is excellent in Tilt. As poker legend Don "The Matador" Everest, Madsen hauls out his usual shtick: shiny eyes, gravelly voice, sudden and violent eruptions. He points at someone every time he speaks a line, just to kick up the intimidation factor. If only he were pointing at dumpy Asians in satin jackets, we might have a show here.
From bangordailynews.com The magnetic Michael Madsen ("Reservoir Dogs," "Kill Bill") as The Matador holds sway over "Tilt," as he has on many movies and series over his illustrious career.
MICHAEL ON WHY HE'S DOING TV... From azcentral.com: Whenever an actor who's made a name in movies comes to television, the inevitable question is asked: why on earth is someone so famous as you deigning to work in TV? (We're a self-loathing bunch.) The best answer to the Question came from Michael Madsen, who's starring in Tilt, an ESPN drama about high-stakes professional poker in Las Vegas. Why, oh why, Mr. Madsen, is a successful movie star such as yourself doing this? "My wife likes jewelry. Had to pay the mortgage."

The scene was actually pretty tame...let's just say the Matador's junior member got some attention from what looked like a call girl, more subtly implied than anything. However the snicker, laugh, and the line of "Bullseye!!" kind of summed it up. The show was great...very slick and edgey...very Vegas. Oh yeah...and here is the Michael cast blurb from the official site: Michael Madsen Starring as Don "The Matador" Everest
There is no simple way to describe Michael Madsen. You can try "piercing green eyes, the trademark raspy voice, a real man's man." But that's where the simplicity begins and ends. Just as his credits run the gamut from the hippest of cult films to the biggest studio blockbusters, his characters transcend beyond both ends of the spectrum. He is the ear-slicing Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino 's "Reservoir Dogs," dancing and humming to the tune "Stuck in the Middle with You;" the deviant killer in "The Getaway" with Kim Basinger and Alec Baldwin; the psycho killer in John Dahl 's "Kill Me Again"; the Mafia family captain Sonny Black in "Donnie Brasco," with Al Pacino and Johnny Depp; the over-the-top cop in "Mulholland Falls"; and the hard-core government operative in "Species."
Yet, Madsen is also the lovable and caring father in "Free Willy"; Susan Sarandon's supportive, understanding boyfriend in "Thelma and Louise"; the gentle Virgil Earp opposite Kevin Costner in "Wyatt Earp"; and Halle Berry's CIA boss in "Die Another Day." The list continues. Michael Madsen personifies the word "superstar," yet he also defies the definition of the stereotypical "Hollywood actor." As part of the Hollywood elite group of leading men who rank among the industry's heaviest hitters, Madsen's demeanor reflects that there is more to him than meets the eye.
Madsen reunited with Quentin Tarantino for the first time in over ten years as "Budd" (aka Sidewinder) in Tarantino's blockbuster "Kill Bill, Volume 2" with Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Darryl Hannah and Lucy Liu among others. Madsen recently completed shooting "SIN CITY," the adaptation of Frank Miller's stories based on the fictional town of Sin City alongside Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Brittany Murphy, Elijah Wood and others. He appeared opposite Parker Posey and Adam Goldberg in the USA series "Frankenstein" for producer Martin Scorsese, author Dean Koontz and director Marcus Nispel (who directed the recent "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake). Also upcoming is the film "Red Light Runners," in which he stars in and co-produces. Madsen plays "Killian" who works for the government in its Special Ops department in this spy thriller with Harvey Keitel, Peter O 'Toole and Crispin Glover. From there, the busy actor will join Tarantino and Larry Bishop as the star of the biker film "Hell Ride."
Madsen also just completed shooting "Bloodrayne" in Romania with Michelle Rodriguez and Ben Kingsley, a film based on the action horror videogame of the same name, centered around a sexy supernatural huntress who is an unholy breed of human and vampire. Madsen stars as "Vladimir," a Vampire Hunter.
Madsen starred in FX's film "44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shootout" (which earned the highest ratings in the history of FX) with Mario Van Peebles and Ron Livingston, depicting the longest gun battle in urban law enforcement, when two heavily armed men held the LAPD and SWAT at bay for 44 minutes during a bank robbery. Madsen stars as the male lead and main LA cop who contains the havoc unleashed by the gunmen. In addition, Madsen recently finished shooting the epic European Western "Muraya" (aka "Blueberry") with Vincent Cassel and Juliette Lewis, slated for release in February 2004. "Muraya" is the film adaptation of Jean Giraud 's French comic strip titled "Blueberry." All of this is in addition to the Ten Year Anniversary of "Reservoir Dogs" that was recently released on DVD by Artisan Entertainment.
Recently Madsen starred in the series "Big Apple," and also starred as "Miller the Killer" in the remake of the 1952 Gary Cooper/Grace Kelly Western "High Noon," opposite Tom Skerritt, Reed Diamond, Maria Conchita Alonso and Susanna Thompson.
As Madsen unravels the complexity of his personality on both the small and silver screens, his compilation of short stories and poems entitled "Burning in Paradise" further proves his capabilities as an artist. "Burning in Paradise," winner of the Independent Book Publisher's "Firecracker Poetry Book of the Year" Award, explores the intense and gritty experiences of a man living on the edge who is exposed to the various elements of human weakness. It's no wonder Rolling Stone Magazine heralds Madsen "a natural menace," while Dennis Hopper, who composed the book 's foreword, says Madsen is "Better than Kerouac. Raunchier, more poignant." And in December of 2002, Michael's new book of poetry, "Blessing of the Hounds," was released by 12 Gage Press. "Burning in Paradise" and "Blessing of the Hounds" grace the shelves of bookstores around the world and are available at www.michaelmadsen.com. Michael just completed his latest book of prose called "46 Down," available in bookstores and on Madsen's site as well.
Born in Chicago, Madsen and his two siblings, including actress Virginia Madsen, were reared in a close-knit family environment. As a rebellious teenager growing up in a big city, Madsen sought refuge in old films and live theater. As the story goes, Michael entered the world of acting after seeing a production of "Of Mice and Men" at the Steppenwolf Theatre. It wasn't long before Madsen wound up performing at the theater himself. When director Sergio Leone saw Madsen in a theatrical production of "Carnal Knowledge," he was so taken with Madsen's performance that he insisted on meeting the young performer after the show, only to encourage Madsen to pursue an acting career.
After painting houses, repairing cars, working as an orderly in a hospital and pumping gas in his late teens and early twenties, Madsen took the director's advice and moved to Los Angeles. It wasn 't long before he landed guest-starring roles on "Miami Vice," "Cagney and Lacey" and "St. Elsewhere," to name a few, only to make his film debut in the hit feature "War Games." After roles in "Racing with the Moon," "The Natural," "Kill Me Again" and "War and Remembrance," among others, Ridley Scott cast him in "Thelma and Louise" opposite Susan Sarandon, and Madsen became an "overnight success."
With a long list of credits in such films as "Money for Nothing," "Man with a Gun," "The Doors," "Last Days of Frankie the Fly" and "The Florentine," to name a few, in addition to television stints on "Inspectors 2," "The Outsiders," "Quantum Leap," "Tour of Duty" and "The Hitchhiker," Michael also starred in his own series "Vengeance Unlimited," a one-hour drama on ABC where he played Mr. Chapel, vigilante extraordinaire. This list continues...
When Michael isn't working, he relaxes in Malibu at home with his wife, De Anna, and his five children. A dedicated husband and father, Michael loves to ride his Harleys as well as restore and race old American classic cars. Defying the definition of the "stereotypical Hollywood actor," whether in front of a camera or not, there's only one simple way to describe Michael Madsen. He personifies the word "cool."
