Okay, how about a section for some of our favorite comedians? 1. Eddie Murphy (the king! Nothing funnier than Raw from way back when) 2. Denis Leary 3. Chris Rock 4. Ron White (Blue Collar Comedy Tour) 5. Steve Martin (old stand ups before SNL) 6. Chevy Chase 7. Dan Ackroyd 8. Brian Reagan (sp?) 9. Rhett Butler (Grace under fire, but saw her live and she was awesomely funny) 10. Robin Williams (older stand up was just hilarious) I love comedy of all types and these are only a few of my fave's. I'm sure I'll think of more as this thread progresses

1) Chris Rock - he has a charm about him. Did anyone see his 5 thousand dollar bullet routine? Too funny 2) Emo Phillips. Can't explain why. He just is 3) Obscure no-names on those comedy central channels. The good ones, obviously 4) Billy Crystal 5) Robin Williams 6) Steve Martin (at times) 7) David Letterman - oh, wait - I guess it doesn't count if I'm laughing AT him... lol. 8) Conan O'Brian

great thread.. 1. George Carlin - Comedy legend, he is universaly admired by his peers.. I have at one time or another heard almost all of his ruitines.. I love the old man to death 2. Lewis Black - angry comic, but done with style and substance.. puts on a great show 3. Robin Williams - I admit I wasn't expecting much from hi stand up show, i liked him more as an actor at first but his last HBO show was one of the best performances I'd seen in years.. bravo william 4. Bill Maher - I think he does his best work no doubt in the company of other, with real time on HBO and hiso ld show on ABC, I saw him do an hour stand up set once, he wasn't bad but at times it just felt like a really long monolouge from PI Gallager - ok, sue me and stick my head on a pikeI like gallagher but not for the props and gas but from the shows I've seen him do he comes accross as very intelligent person and he goes into these carlin like diatribes at times on things like, why do we park in driveways and drive in park ways type a things.. only more creative than that.. lol David Cross - not as well known as the others he used to host mr show on hbo the few shows I've seen him do were great, he does a real edgey in the gutter type show and is quite funny at times there's lots more that I love.. that i've forgotten.. dont close the thread.. I'll be back

I concur with the poster at the top with Dennis Leary, I was reading a transcript of an old show he did and busted up the other day, also I don't know what I'd do during heavy traffic without my burned copy of his infamous "not a very nice person song"
thought I'd give an honerable mention to sam kinison, he had his weak moments at times but he did a few skits that were flat golden, like the world hunger bit, and alot of his takes on religion . he had great energy for a big man and I really miss him
Rodney Dangerfield - not exactly my favorite kind of comedian but I think he's a great actor and at times his little one line gags can be hilarious if you haven't heard them before
another one gone before his time, Bill Hicks I saw only one show of his but it left an impression.. sometimes I enjoyed him more on an intellectual level than a comedy level, he really seemed to care deeply about what he was saying, although there's certianly nothing wrong with that

I really should check out more of his stuff.

I'd reccomend you check out the " No Cure For Cancer" album 1st if you've never heard anything else, it's by far his strongest showing... if you're not into him after that comedy wise then it's just not meant to be.. he admittedly isn't for everyone and most of his material is more a direct commentary on whats happening in the world or his personal life experiences.... hope that helped
