I just got back from my friend Sharon's house and movie night....and I am awestruck. I know EXACTLY what film I will be rooting for come time for the Oscars. Jamie Foxx's performance is absolutely staggering....he was the man himself. To be honest it was almost eerie.
What I really loved about the film were the memory sequences of Ray's childhood before he lost his sight. The colors were so vibrant, from the rainbow bottles hanging in the tree outside the house where he grew up, to the red clay roads he played on as a child. The colors would have been something that Ray would have committed to memory with complete perfection, and they really did an AMAZING job of capturing this and expressing it on film.
You guys HAVE to see this film if you haven't already.

I can't wait to see it now. I wanted to from the beginning when I first saw it announced. Now I really need to get to the movie store.

It's funny, I was just fixing to post this in the See It/Skip It section. I thought it was just amazing, like Amber said, Jamie Foxx was outstanding & he proved that he's truly an ACTOR & not just comic fluff. I've always been a fan of Ray's music , but never really knew his background, so it was very enlightening & also a bit unsettling to learn of his womanizing & heroin addiction. But he was truly a genius & his music is legendary & all those experiences, good and bad, made him who he was. The movie is a tad long, but well worth the 2 and a half hours to sit & watch. Is it just me or did they not really fully explain the actual reason that he went blind? Maybe I just missed it... Anyway, great movie & I highly recommend it whether you're a fan or not!!

it was getting late and she said she was tired and asked if I wanted to come over and watch the rest of it tomorrow,I highly anticipate seeing the rest of this movie, it's been nothing but great so far.
