A few friends of mine have been telling me I should check this guy's stuff out, I've read a couple "tribute pieces" to him on the net using his style and they were all pretty good. I heard about his death recently too.. it really affected his fans from what I've seen, some of them even broke down and cried. some of them are still crying.
anyway I was wondering if anyone here has read any of his work? and if they have what would be a good starting out point to jump in on in regards to one of his books?
I've only heard of fear and loathing in las vegas, the library over here is closed for a couple weeks due to them movin into a new building so I'm screwed until then at least.
any help is much appreciated.
yo pal, the dude

I haven't read any of his stuff, but my brother is a fan of his, so the next time I talk to him I'll ask him what he suggests.
From what I've read in articles, his suicide wasn't a big suprise to many people. Guess he had some issues he couldn't work out. Sad...

You're very welcome....I'll ask him as soon as I get the chance. He lives in MN, so I haven't talked to him in a few days, but I'll def. get his suggestions.

Unfortunately a great deal of writers live vicariously through their work. It may not be that their work personifies a life they can't carry out, but more so a life they can't emotionally handle. Henceforth they write and remain semi anynonomous to their public. Being troubled and letting your mind guide the story is almost becoming a trick of the writing trade. It's always unfortunate when a good one dies.

So true^
I recently downloaded a book of his, it's about the hell's angels, been slowly skimming through it the past day or two, I must say I admire his writing style, it's very digestable and somewhat captivating at times.
