Ok, so we all want to slim down at some point or another and sometimes there's no way to know how to start. Here are some easy starting points that can easily lead into a healthful and successful diet plan.
1. Water. You hear it all the time, but instead of soda, tea, milk or coffee, grab water. Fill up on water and indulge your body on this precious resource we just don't get enough of.
2. No seconds. And while you're at it, serve yourself on a small plate. Make it a cake or salad plate. Your mind plays tricks on you and if you 'see' your plate is full, no matter what size the plate is, you'll think you're getting more than you really are.
3. 6 small meals? 3 regular size meals? You decide. If you think you'd benefit more from 6 smaller meals than three larger ones, by all means indulge yourself. But make sure you incorporate all the food groups in these meals.
4. Leafy greens means more vitamins. Eat according to color. Bright, vibrant colored greens and veggies have more vitamins in them than anything else. Indulge yourself and put plenty of these in your diet instead of say, potato chips or sweets.
5. When you cook, you control the quality of the ingredients, the fat content, the carb content, and the overall healthfulness of the meal. Be more in control and cook your own meals.
6. Be more concerned about healthy than low carb, low fat or low cholesterol. The more healthy you eat the less you'll have to worry about any of these. Oh, and for those low carb junkies, have you actually looked and compared the carb count in some of the old stuff you used to eat? For example: Ranch Dressing (or any other salad dressing) 0 carbs - Crazy huh? but there are still the people who're buying all the diet foods. Be informed and know your products.
