Well...I do believe that I have managed to ferret out one of the last human beings to not have seen 'Reservoir Dogs'...which really really shocked me. Our friend James (Dr. Major James Treu, Air National Guard and college history professor) had never seen it. My roommate Mike and friend Morgan had to make another trip back to town to get the rest of the crew (an hour and 15 minutes each way), so I sat James down to watch it.
It took almost three hours, but we finally got it done. I had the remote in hand with my finger on the pause button with a wary eye out for his wonderful 5 year old daughter....thus the 3 hour run time. He enjoyed it immensely, and it was a treat for me to get to watch it again with a newbie!

He really enjoyed it, which is why I was really shocked he hadn't seen it...seemed right up his alley. Nice to be right from time to time.

That's cool...cause most of my friends and the people around me are like" OMG! That's such a wrong movie, who would ever go see it???" See...I've had alot of people react the same way to it. I always say the same thing to these folks too. You have to look beyond the surface of the film, and look to the motivations of the characters. Quentin has a wonderful way of bringing Shakespeareian ideas about betrayal and relationships as a whole to a modern view. My roommate Mike's little brother Scott (who is 17) recently had a literature class at school where the teacher asked the students to compare the storyline and character development found in MacBeth to a modern film. Scott's hand shot up and he did a 5 minute comparison between MacBeth and Reservoir Dogs. The teacher gave him an A for the day and pulled him aside after class to talk to him more about the film. Scott came to our house directly after school and thanked me for showing him the film, and we spent about an hour talking about it ourselves. People in our society have become lazy, and want their entertainment to be preprocessed for them so they don't have to use their brains....which is exactly why it usually takes an act of god, or Quentin Tarantino (sometimes one in the same...HA!) to get me to the movie theater anymore.

Yea I know what you mean, most people see like the "violent parts" and automatically say something like that about it...which sucks cause they don't get to see the actual craft of Tarantino's.

congratulations! I tried to get my dad to watch it with me a few years back, my dad who doesn't enjoy anything unless john wayne pops up and shoots somebody every 10 seconds, he sat through it and didn't say a word afterwords.. I think it bored him, I don't know though.. maybe he was jsut so overwhlemed he couldn't think of anything to say lol I also watched RD with a friend once, I don't want to say anything mean about the guy, hes been my best friend since middle school but he's part of what I like to refer to ass "genereation ADD" the mtv mind washed type who gets all his news from carson daily and who thinks U2 and The Doors were the boy bands of their day .. eh.. he watched the 1st scene and I was then forced to put in something else, so it was with great remorse that I had to watch "dude where's my car" for the 18th million f'n time!! lol

Essentially that movie should have been, "Dude, where's my f'n gun" just because it could have really ended a whole heck of a lot of suffering. You just gotta come to grips with the fact that you can't win em all!
