Anyone who didn't see this movie (yes, Dude it is a chick flick to some degree) needs to give it a chance and watch. Because I watch a lot of A&E, I've been seeing the ads for this since before Chris Reeve died. I planned on watching it back then, so his death had no influence on my decision to watch it. I have to say this was very well done, and the story itself is incredibly heart breaking and really makes you think.
In a nutshell, Brooke is paralyzed at the age of 11. Her mother insists on being taught how to become her caregiver and soon becomes her daughters 24/7 nurse. At her insistence, Brooke returns to school and ends up getting accepted to Harvard. The entire time her mother accompanies her through both middle school, high school, and then college in an effort to make sure her daughter gets the education she deserves. Brooke is now in grad school closer to home where her mother and father can see each other more often than before, but overall this story was a real thought provoking story.
I had to sit and think about just how much of her life Brooke's mother has given up to constantly care for a child who can't do anything by herself. What a sacrifice! Truly an uplifting and motivating story. Catch it if you can on A&E. Worth the watch.
