There's a section on Michael's official site where he gives comments on what he thinks of some of his movies & also if he recommends seeing them or not. So each month I'll feature his comments on here & we can discuss what we think about them & the movies.
August's Movie:
Donnie Brasco(Recommended) "Memorable gangster drama; close adaptation of the book, shot in NY & Miami. Great performances by everyone; well-directed, well-edited, with a lot of my scenes omitted from the film. It should have been released in more theaters. Good working experience, true to its nature."
This is probably one of my favorite movies of all time & my second favorite Michael movie(Reservoir Dogs being numer 1). I think it's Michael's second most remembered role after Mr. Blonde. Of course, after Kill Bill, 'Budd' may be the second most memorable performance now. I've read in interviews that this was one of his favorite movies he's done & one that he's most proud of & I agree w/ him whole-heartedly!!

I've only seen bits and pieces of Brasco, and I don't remember Michael's role at all (this was before I was a Madsen fan) but I generally avoided it because at that time Johnny Depp was still in his boring, "Don't treat me like a hearthrob" stage, and because I didn't like him at that point, so... but from what I could tell it was an otherwise solid movie.

Have to agree that Donnie Brasco is a great flick. I enjoy it because I like that type of movie on top of the fact Mike's in it.
Definately a solid movie and the fact that it's based on a true story always makes me interested to see any movie and the interpretation writer's and directors have made from the people the story is about.

Yep, it's an awesome movie! I've always loved mob movies, plus like you said it's based on a true story so that makes it even more interesting. The book it's based on has been on my 'must read' list for awhile, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

Something I just found out the other day, my parents watched "21 Jump Street" when it was on and I was a wee ittle one, but my mom says every time Johnny came on the screen, I would stop what I was doing and watch. LoL. I did the same thing with "Edward Scissorhands".
