I just finished Stephen King's new one Cell. Very good (a return to form for him) but the end kinda leaves ya hanging. Makes me wonder if he'll write a sequel to it. I'm also getting caught up on his Dark Tower series...on book 4 now.

I've been wanting to pick up Cell for a while. Just last year I read my first three Stephen King books, The first was 'Christine' (read it before I saw the movie and I have to say now that I have seen the film there is absolutely no comparison, the book pwns the movie) Then I picked up 'The Green Mile' (Had seen the movie previously here) and on this one I have to say they are about equal. Both the book and the movie are awesome. Even though the book was originally intended as a series of short books it was still a very good page turner that had you feeling for all the pivotal characters. (as did Christine, which was sort of like 'West Side Story' only with a murderous 57 plymouth)
Finally I read different seasons, which is a series of mini-books almost. It includes the stories that went on to become the basis for such movies as 'The Shawshank Redemptiom' (awesome story and one of the best movies of all time), 'Apt Pupil' ( Haven't seen the movie nor do I intend to, this one was just a little too disturbing for my tastes, not disturbing in that classic King way, disturbing in that real life awkard way) And also a story called 'The Body' which was absolutely remarkable. It went on to inspire the movie 'Stand By Me' which was a childhood favorite of mine. Finally there was a bonechilling little tale called. 'The Breathing Method, this one had an ending that will leave anyone with the shivers/quivers)
Right now I have the 'Long Walk' sitting back behind me on a desk. A friend got it for me for Christmas, but I as of yet have not fully started to read it yet. So yeah that's about it.
Also last year I read 'Jarhead' by Anthony Swafford. It was a pretty intense and also a pretty funny book, have yet to see the film.

I've read all the King stuff that you mentioned...all good stuff! You really should read The Stand, it's my favorite of his...actually it's my favorite book King or otherwise. I've read it twice (& it's a really long book). But worth the time invested in reading it!! Just started on Primal Scream by Michael Slade.

Just finished reading the biography of Dave Allen the Irish comedian. Very dull and no substance to it. He was very big on TV when I was young and fancy free. Mind you I am young and fancy free now that I come to think of it. Nove.

I belong to a book club at work so am reading "The Bone People" by Keri Hulme its about the Maori people. I am not sure about it at the moment still withholding judgment. A couple of books I really want to get hold of when I have a bit of spare cash (!) is a biography of Peter Lorre that came out not long ago but that is about £30 and My Exhausted Life by George Sandars. For those too young to remember them Peter Lorre was a brillant character actor who starred alongside Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. And George Sandars was a suave v. intelligent actor who played the Saint.

Hi Falco good to hear from you. I use to belong to a book club but it closed down through lack of interest. "The Bone People" is very unusual. Keri Hulme is one of our best New Zealand writers. Yes,I remember Peter Lorre and George Sanders very well and saw all their movies as-well-as Humphry Bogarts movies. I think I've read "My Exhausted Life" and I will order the Peter Lorre book through the Mobile Library. I prefer to read biographys and autobiographys but the Mobile Library have very little so I just read what I can get in fiction. Nove.
