I just finished "The Gunslinger" by Stephen King, can't wait to read the rest of the series! Now I'm reading "Blackwood Farm" by Anne Rice.

I love just about anything from Stephen King. As a writer I basically read anything I can get my hands on. It's amazing to see the differences in peoples writing styles (as well as educating).
Janet Evanovich has a series of books, most recent one being 'To the nines' and for release in a couple of days here 'Ten Big ones'. The series is addicting! It's main character is Stephanie Plum and she's a bond enforcement agent. There are some really hiarious situations and great plot lines. Check them out. Shoot read some of the earlier ones checked out from your library to get a feel for them, but watch out. Once you read one you have to read them all.

Yeah, King is my favorite author, alongside Anne Rice. Also love Clive Barker, Dean Koontz & John Sandford. Two ladies I work w/ read those Janet Evanovich books you were talking about. They're always talking about how good they were. I've been meaning to check them out but I have a 'must read' list that's about a mile long! lol

Geez - how many do I have going? I'm trying to make my way through the popular works of Dumas, and I got this book from my school along with a literature award called I Capture the Castle, but so far it's pretty bad.

I dunno how or why I do it, but I read several books at a time. These are the ones right now;
Interview With The Vampire - Anne Rice Specters - J.M Dillard The Client - John Grisham Drug Lord - Terrence Poppa No One Gets Out Of Here Alive (bio on Jim Morrison) - Jerry Hopkins and Danny Sugerman
My favorite authors are Anne Rice, James Patterson, Hunter S. Thompson, Washington Irving, and, of course, the great Stephen King.

I'm the same way with both reading and writing. I read a couple at a time and I write a couple at a time. It's really a strange way to do things as far as I'm concerned but it works for me.

I read in an interview w/ Anne that 'Blood Canticle', the last one she put out would be her last VC book. Maybe she'll change her mind. lol 'No one Here Gets Out Alive' is an awesome book! I think I've read it about 3 times. ;D

I'm still reading "Blackwood Manor". I'm trying to hurry & finish it....do you ever get to the point where you just wanna finish a book so you can move on? I mean, this book is good, but I guess I've just been reading the same kind of stuff the last few books & I'm getting bored w/ it for the moment. I need to switch genres for a while. Then I made the mistake of going in to Books-A-Million the other day & seeing all these good books that I wanted to read.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've had a couple that I end up puttng away for a few and then picking back up later. Funny enough, even the most boring book will be interesting when you're bored stiff. Hey, I'm on Books-a-million ;D I also found that someone had bought a couple copies of the first book and were selling them on the web a couple bucks higher. Another site from (ok, sit down here) Hong Kong was selling it for $25 frickin US dollars. I wouldn't pay $25 for any book, let alone one from someone I wasn't familiar with. I can't wait to see what this first royalty check will be like. Maybe I'll be able to take one kid to McDonalds - gee how exciting.

Can you get your book at B-A-M or just from their web site?

Just the website. It's also on Amazon.com, barnes and noble - heck I'll stop listing them - it's available online wherever books are sold.

Read another Evanovich book "Visions of Sugar Plums" and it was great. This one would be a good one to give you a feel for her series. It's non-threatening in that it's only 150 pages. I zoomed through it in a couple of hours, but it is just as funny and attention grabbing as all the others. Hit the library today and picked up 14 books to read - so I'll have some future threads to add to this I'm sure.
